What we do

At PEAK, we believe in empowering individuals to become architects of their own destiny. Our empowerment programs are tailored to help women, children, and families rebuild their lives from the trauma of tribal clashes, extreme povertyabuse, and displacementhomelessness. Our interventions focus on three areas that are foundational to dignified lives in pastoralist communities: Land, Peace, and Health.

Empowerment Programs:

At PEAK, we believe in empowering individuals to become architects of their own destiny. Our empowerment programs are tailored to help women, children, and families rebuild their lives from the trauma of tribal clashes, abuse, and homelessness. Through skill enhancement and educational opportunities, we strive to uplift living standards and promote economic self-sufficiency.

Community land tenure:

Secure community land rights are fundamental to resilience, peace, and sustainable development in pastoralist regions. Through the Community Land Tenure program, Pastoralist Empowerment Action Kenya (PEAK) works with community institutions to strengthen governance literacy, support responsible land registration processes, and promote inclusive decision-making structures that reflect both constitutional provisions and customary systems.
By building the capacity of community land committees and facilitating structured dialogue among diverse stakeholders—including women, youth, and elders—PEAK supports communities to take collective ownership of their land governance journey. Strengthened tenure security contributes to climate adaptation, protection of shared resources, and long-term socio-economic stability across pastoralist communities.

Peacebuilding and access to justice

Sustainable peace in pastoralist regions is closely linked to equitable access to resources, inclusive governance, and trusted community institutions. PEAK’s Peacebuilding and Access to Justice interventions focus on strengthening dialogue platforms, promoting inclusive participation, and supporting community structures that prevent conflict and foster social cohesion.
By encouraging transparent decision-making and reinforcing accountability mechanisms, the program contributes to peaceful coexistence and strengthens community capacity to address disputes constructively. These efforts help build trust, safeguard shared resources, and create enabling conditions for long-term stability and development

Access to health:

Access to health is essential for dignity, resilience, and human development. PEAK works to promote equitable access to essential health services for vulnerable and underserved pastoralist communities affected by displacement, poverty, and marginalisation.
Through partnerships and community engagement approaches, PEAK contributes to strengthening awareness, improving linkages to services, and supporting interventions that enhance well-being and protect vulnerable groups. Improved access to health services strengthens community resilience and supports sustainable recovery and development pathways
